Church News This Week 5/17

This Sunday – Pastor Tim continues the 1 Corinthians series with a challenge from 1 Corinthians 13, “The Unified Church Pursues Love.”
Fellowship Tonight – You are invited to a farewell fellowship for the Tom and Becky Baucom family who are moving to Virginia in the next couple of weeks. The Baucoms have been deeply invested in ministry at Brookdale and will be greatly missed.  Each family is invited to bring a treat to share.
Scott & Julie Fulks Support – Brookdale has been in the process of considering Scott and Julie Fulks for missions support.  They have been with us on two occasions, filled out an extensive questionnaire, and have been part of significant conversations with our pastors and deacons.  The Fulks will join a church planting team in NW Spain with Baptist Mid Missions.  The church leadership is recommending that we begin supporting the Fulks at $200 per month beginning in June 2012.   The entire church  membership will have opportunity to consider this recommendation tonight, in the evening service.  Please be in prayer for God’s will to be shown to His people, as we consider them to join us as part of Brookdale’s evangelistic team. We will also be considering a special missions project gift for David Flink’s building purchase and furnishings.
Nursery Ministry – We have 3 – 4 vacancies for workers in the nursery in July and August.  There are even a few workers who are working more than one shift a month in order to help fill the need.   We would appreciate it if church members would consider helping out, even on a one time basis, in order to help this vital ministry of our church.
All-church Fellowship – Rod and Tammy Johnson invites everyone to come to their farm for a picnic in the afternoon of Sunday, May 27.  There will be no evening service that night.  Please sign up at the welcome center.
Men’s Huddle – June 2 – 7-8:30 a.m. Come for breakfast, fellowship, prayer, and a challenge on a “Raising Up Sons”
Sunday Adult Electives – Beginning June 3, adults will have the option of choosing from two classes on evangelism from 9:00-9:45am each Sunday, “Reaching Today’s Generation” or “Worldview and Evangelism”.
Midweek Summer Small Groups begin June 6 – The month of May is flying by and plans are underway to prepare us for our Summer Ministry. All are invited and encouraged to participate in midweek small groups this summer.  The Lord really blessed those meetings in the life of the church last year.  Again these studies can be held either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday nights. We plan to highlight the book of John. What a great way to spread the gospel to your family as well as families outside the church.  Ryan Myhre is planning a special study at church for teens. A list of study times and locations will be posted beginning next Sunday.
We will have a brief meeting following the morning service this Sunday to get you the material and answer any questions you might have.
Camp Sponsors – Due to the good response of campers, we can use a couple of more sponsors to attend the week of camp with the Brookdale kids, July 23-27. Please contact Pastor Tim or Zach Paxton if you are interested.
Pictorial Directory – We would like to update our church pictorial directory.  If you are available to help in planning & putting a pictorial church directory together, please contact the church office.
Brookdale Neighborhood Bible Clubs – We Still Need More Hosts & Leaders!
Three to Four Host Homes – (North Fargo & Moorhead would be good but we’ll take anywhere!)  provide home/snacks/neighborhood kids
Leaders are still needed- provide lessons/songs/games
            Training for Leaders – May 23 & 30 from 6:30 – 9:30 pm each night
Clubs will take place June 18-22 or June 25-29 – 90 minutes per day (whichever works best for Host – time of day is up to the Host as well)
Contact Tom Salmen to be a part of the leadership to the clubs
Lost & Found – The Lost & Found bucket is over flowing!  We still have several coats and jackets for all ages along with many other misc. items.  Please look over the items on a table in the fellowship room.  THIS SUNDAY is the last Sunday (May 20) they will be out for pick up.  Anything not claimed by then will be donated.
Transportation Ministry Needs – every week a number of people need a ride to church for both Sunday services.  If you are interested in giving leadership to or helping with  this ministry, driving, organizing, etc. see John Rasmussen or Pastor Tim
